The new Single from Perth’s four-piece Avant-Rock Tricksters is an Alt-Rock funky lament of the black dog that bites us, and our unconscious resolution towards ownership of those things that all too often are “self-inflicted”.

Recorded at Poons Head Studios and featuring Dario Jiritano’s & David Rajendram’s on-your-toes rhythm section, Clayton Brown’s innovative guitar motifs, and Travis Brinnand’s distinct vocals (veering from clipped Rap-ish delivery to playful falsetto to unleashed Blues holler), King Proteus again manage to seamlessly touch on so many genres as to invoke bewilderment first, and a satisfying total surrender thereafter. Self-Inflicted also features a guest appearance by renowned Jazz pianist David Dower, adding subtle textures to what is already a vivid musical landscape.
